Olive oil production
The olive groves of Centauri produce top quality extra virgin olive oil, a product of biodynamic cultivation, certified by TUV Hellas. The olive trees grow in virgin soils on the plateau of Pholóē, in the area of Ancient Olympia. The varieties cultivated are Koroneiki, Agrielia and Olympia. After harvesting the fruit, crushing of olive branches takes place, resulting in the production of organic matter that provides biological fertilization of the soil.
The variety “Olympia” is the local variety that grows in the areas of Ancient Olympia and Gortynia. It is characterized by a significantly higher content (5 to 10 times) of beneficial substances compared to other olive varieties. It is a variety that has been found in the region for more than 1500 years.
Olive oil is a cold extraction product (20C - 22C) and its extraction is made exclusively by mechanical methods. The result is extra virgin olive oil, with minimal acidity, which retains all its valuable nutrients intact.
We aim at the purity of the olive oil we produce, through the enhancement of its special characteristics: aroma, taste and texture.
The preparation for the market and the bottling process of the product are made with certified methods in modern units in the region of Ilia, following the tradition and respecting the laws of nature at every stage of cultivation and harvesting.
